How could we not end the week without touching on 9/11 to remember the lives lost and the strength and unity shown by our country after that tragic day?
This week our country paused to honor and never forget those who passed 11 years ago this week. We revisited the sites, reconnected with family and friends of those who lost loved ones, called out their names in remembrance, and we honored the efforts of our brave countrymen who died helping others. It was a hard day to get through…it always has been.
Spring Awakening deals with death in more ways than one. It looks at the untimely passing of individuals and the emotional toll it takes on those who are left behind. I couldn’t help but think of those who lost their lives on 9/11 as we rehearsed the show and sang “Left Behind”. I found myself holding back the tears and simply wanting to scream, “WHY?”
I don’t think a person ever fully recovers from loosing a loved one regardless of how they pass. But, I have learned and as we see Melchi come to realize, those individuals we might have lost are never gone from our hearts. We carry their love and memory with us where ever we are.
We will always remember 9/11. We will keep them close and never let them go.
